The Office Show the Parkour Funny Moment
We get it. We know The Office has been off the air for over six years. We know that the last few seasons without Michael Scott weren't the same. And yeah, we are still upset that John Krasinski married someone other than Jenna Fischer in real life. But that doesn't make us any less obsessed with arguably the greatest TV show of our time.
Not sure what all the hype is about? Well, if you've never seen The Office, it's basically a fake documentary-type show that follows the daily life of employees at the Dunder Mifflin Paper Company in Scranton, PA. The regional manager, Michael Scott, is not exactly a great leader, but he certainly tries very hard to be the best. It stars Steve Carell, John Krasinski, Jenna Fischer, Rainn Wilson, and a ton of others that you've probably seen in other shows or movies. What a lot of people don't know is that so much of it is actually improv which makes it that much better. If you don't believe us, it's even won its fair share of awards, including a handful of Emmys and even a Golden Globe.
Whether you've seen the entire series or not, we're ranking the top 12 funniest moments from The Office so you know exactly what to look forward to and which episodes to watch.
And we don't think we even have to say this since it's practically written in the title, but there are spoilers below. Don't say we didn't warn you.
CPR Training | Season 5, Episode 14
If any "funniest scene" list starts with any scene other than the CPR training one, they're wrong. After Stanley has his heart attack, Michael organizes the CPR training class. And we know you had tears streaming down your face when the instructor told Michael to perform heart compressions to the rhythm of "Staying Alive," but he starts singing "I Will Survive" instead. But once he starts singing the right song, Andy chimes in with harmonies and they start singing the rest of the song. People start dancing. Dwight cuts off the face of the CPR dummy. It's iconic.
The Dinner Party | Season 4, Episode 9
This is a personal favorite of ours. Michael finally pressures Jim and Pam enough to come over to his and Jan's condo for a dinner party, and just about everything is super awkward and uncomfortable from the moment they walk in the door. They thought they'd be able to at least come and go quickly until they found out that dinner wouldn't be ready for another three hours. Michael and Jan are passively aggressively fighting the whole night. Jan confronts Pam about her having an affair with Michael and ends up smashing Michael's most prized possession: his 12" flat screen TV that he hung himself. And one of the greatest parts of all? Dwight was upset that he was left out since he didn't have a significant other, so he showed up with his former babysitter with his own food, wine, and wine glasses. I mean, not an awful guest at least?
Michael Drives Into a Lake | Season 4, Episode 2
After losing a handful of clients to other companies, Michael wants to hand-deliver gift baskets to try and win them back. Dwight insists on going with him, and they end up driving all over delivering baskets with the help of their handy GPS. But it all goes horribly wrong when the GPS tells them to make a right turn even though that'd put them straight into a lake. But Michael would never listen to an inanimate object clearly giving him wrong directions, right? FALSE! Michael Scott wholeheartedly trusts just about everyone and everything. And into the lake they go.
Secret Santa at the Christmas Party | Season 2, Episode 10
So. Secret Santa had a $20 limit, but Michael buys a $400 iPod in hopes of also getting an expensive gift. Since he's disappointed he got a homemade oven mitt, he turns it into a Yankee swap and everything goes completely haywire. He ends up leaving to go to the liquor store and asks the cashier if 15 bottles of vodka is enough to get 20 people plastered. Everything ends up being kind of okay for the most part. But Kelly makes the first move on Dwight, which makes Angela run outside to smash Christmas ornaments in fury. Happy Birthday, Jesus. Sorry your party's so lame.
Dwight's Fire Drill | Season 5, Episode 14
IT'S HAPPENING. EVERYBODY STAY CALM. Practically all 22 minutes of this episode were pure gold, so it had to make our list twice. Nothing says fire safety quite like Dwight locking all the doors, cutting the phone lines, and starting an actual fire inside of the office. Pure chaos ensues. People are trying to break windows to get out while Kevin breaks the window to the vending machine. Oscar climbs through the ceiling and falls through on the other side. The only part that's not so hilarious is when Stanley has a heart attack. However, it did result in us getting the CPR training scene.
The Dundies at Chili's | Season 2, Episode 1
No matter how many times you've seen The Office, you always look forward to The Dundies and you know it. It's always so refreshing to see that Pam didn't receive yet another award for "World's Longest Engagement." Plus, it's the infamous episode where Pam gets banned from Chili's for life because she was stealing drinks off of other guests' tables and then kisses Jim for the first time as she's completely shitfaced. Ah, the memories.
The Chili Incident | Season 5, Episode 26
We know this scene only lasts 30 seconds, but it is one of the greatest and most memorable 30 seconds of The Office. Kevin is talking about how much hard work he puts into making his famous chili just once a year. Then as he's walking a giant pot of it into the office, he drops it all over the floor and distraughtly tries to put it back in the pot with his hands and papers. The distress on his face is what makes it even more hilarious. Okay, we realize that we sound like terrible people now that we see it in writing, but it's funny!
Threat Level: Midnight | Season 7, Episode 17
Hands down the best movie inside of a TV show ever. Michael Scott's short film Threat Level: Midnight portrays him as a James Bond-type of character with the majority of his employees in other leading roles, most memorably Jim as Goldenface. Never forget the speed skating contest with secret agent Michael Scarn against Goldenface and their mundane acting when they were shooting at each other on the ice rink. You can't even lie when you say you never tried to learn "The Scarn" dance. Such a great episode.
Michael Hits Meredith with His Car | Season 4, Episode 1
This is one of the greatest episodes filled with the best The Office quotes ever. It's here that we learn Michael isn't superstitious, just a little stitious. When he drives to work that morning, he accidentally hits Meredith with his car, sending her to the hospital. Michael and Dwight talk about the incident later, sighing with relief that "it's only Meredith." After an entire day of his coworkers giving him shit, Michael leaves us with this amazing quote: "Guess what? I have flaws. What are they? Oh, I don't know. I sing in the shower. Sometimes I spend too much time volunteering. Occasionally, I'll hit somebody with my car. So sue me. No, don't sue me. That's the opposite of the point I'm trying to make."
Scott's Tots | Season 6, Episode 12
Michael had previously promised a group of third graders in an area with a low graduation rate that he'd pay for their college education if they graduated high school. Ten years later, they are about to finally graduate, and Michael tells them that he actually can't afford to pay for their tuition. But don't worry—instead, they'd all get a new laptop battery!
Parkour | Season 6, Episode 1
Remember when parkour was cool? The Office opened up season 6 with about a minute and a half of some creative parkour. Was it good? No. Was it funny? Only because it was so terribly bad and already outdated when this episode came out in 2006. Michael, Dwight, and Andy took turns doing "awesome" parkour stunts which included cartwheels, kicking open bathroom doors, and jumping off the roof into a box while continuously yelling "PARKOUR!"
Michael Scott Paper Company | Season 5, Episode 23
Remember that time Michael quit Dunder Mifflin? And no, we're not talking about at the end of the sixth season just yet. We're talking about when he leaves to start his own paper company—right in the basement closet of the Dunder Mifflin building. Now do you remember? The "office" without heat, continuous toilet flushing, a poker table as a desk? Yeah. That was the Michael Scott Paper Company. The whole team consisted of Michael, Pam, and (a newly sober) Ryan, and the entire episode was basically Michael attempting to steal clients from Dunder Mifflin with Dwight as his inside source. Honestly, I think we were all a little surprised when Dunder Mifflin actually paid money to buy out the Michael Scott Paper Company and hired back all of their employees only four episodes after he left.
If anyone ever tries to tell you that The Office is not a great show, they're wrong. Just show them this list to prove it. For us, limiting it down to only 12 moments was so hard, but we loved every second of it. (That's what she said.) Have another funniest moment from The Office that didn't make our list?
